The end of the long wait

So, HI, my name is Rachel. I am currently 18 years old and have just finished two of the hardest years of my life. Back in 2009, as a naive 16 year old, I happily believed everything my school told me about how confident they were with their decision to do the International Baccalaureate (IB) and that although pretty much everyone else in my year was doing the typical A Levels, I was a candidate who could further myself through doing the IB. There was 50 of us who signed up at first (all with very good GCSES), out of a 300 strong sixth form... however due to the terrible results of the schools first year of IB many dropped out leaving is with a total of 28. I went to a state school, and the IB is a very expensive qualification to run so already we were at a disadvantage because the lack of students meant that it wasn't worth sending our teachers on IB specific training course so pretty much no one knew how to teach it. Over the next few months more people dropped out as we discovered it was not only demanding, but often boring as we had to take 7 subjects (including compulsory Maths, Science, Languages and English). By the end of the two years we were left with about 21 students. On June 6th 2011 we recieved out results which would tell us if we got into uni. I needed 36 points on my Ib to get to Loughborough-my first choice uni. I got 34. I spent the next week on the phone, emailing and on facebook trying to persuade them to let me in. Something must have worked cause they did. So woohoo now im going.....
Let the games begin
